Kallinikeio Municipal Museum
The erection of the Kallinikeio Municipal Museum was a matter of time for Athienou, a place rich in cultural heritage, coming from the ancient years. The museum, which is distinguished by its modern architecture, was named after Monk Kallinikos Stavrovouniotis, a benefactor, citizen of Athienou and a excellent hagiographer.
The inauguration of the Museum took place on July 3rd, 2009 by the honorable minister of communications and works Mr. Nikos Nikolaidis.
The museum consists of: Archaeological, Ethnographic and Religious Art collections. It is housed in the Kallinikeio Municipal Hall, along with the Municipal Offices.
The aim of the exhibition halls is to function as a center of instant communication between the museum exhibits and visitors, a source of knowledge for children and adults, a reminder of previous years and a tourist attraction sharing knowledge regarding the local – national history and culture.
